Here are some telltale signs:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Sensitive or painful lips;<\/li><li>Smiling hurts;<\/li><li>You lick your lips often;<\/li><li>Your lips show clear signs of peeling or cracking;<\/li><li>You bleed from the corners of your mouth;<\/li><li>You have open sores or marks on your lips.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3><strong>How to Get Rid of Cracked Lips<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Dry, chapped, and cracked lips can be caused by environmental factors, such as climate change, sun damage, and wind exposure. Cracked lips can also be the result of skin disorders, medication side effects, and allergic reactions. Serious conditions such as<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mayoclinic.org\/diseases-conditions\/sjogrens-syndrome\/home\/ovc-20345863\"> Sjogren\u2019s syndrome<\/a>, diabetes, or sexually transmitted infections (STIs) may also cause chronic dry lip problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are a Cypress resident that is unaffected by the conditions listed above but still have chapped lips, it could be due to dehydration, smoking cigarettes, chewing tobacco, spicy food, or poorly-fitted dental appliances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are some tips from <a href=\"http:\/\/cypressspringsdental.com\/about-us\/\">Dr. Todd<\/a> for healing your cracked lips:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Stay hydrated! Drink 8-10 glasses of water per day and be aware of anything else you drink that will dehydrate you, such as alcohol.<\/li><li>Use ointments often, especially before you go to bed. Avoid lip balms with eucalyptus and menthol.<\/li><li>Don\u2019t lick your lips! As saliva evaporates on your lips, natural moisture is removed. Licking your lips often will dry out your lips even more.<\/li><li>Don\u2019t overuse commercial skin treatments such as heavily flavored lip balms and other lip cosmetics.<\/li><li>Eat right!
